FEI List Group to add GABA and Hydroxy-GABA to Prohibited List
May 7, 2012The FEI has warned its member National Federations against the use of Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and Hydroxy-gamma butyric acid (Hydroxy-GABA), following advice from the FEI List Group. The warning has been issued outside the List Group’s usual annual review process.

May 1, 2012Veterinary issues were the focal point for the afternoon session at the inaugural FEI Sports Forum in Lausanne (SUI) today, which was attended by over 180 delegates from National Federations, the veterinary community, the International Jumping Riders Club and members of the media.

Apr 16, 2012The FEI has announced the introduction of an ID card and online exam for veterinarians working at FEI events focusing on the FEI Veterinary and Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations.
The new system, which comes into effect on 1 June 2012, requires Competitors’ Private Veterinarians, Team Veterinarians and Treating Veterinarians appointed by Organising Committees to pass the online exam based on the relevant FEI regulations affecting vets who support horses competing at FEI events.
FEI INVITES SUBMISSIONS FOR 2013 EQUINE PROHIBITED LIST
Dec 20, 2011The FEI has set up a new system to allow external parties to submit suggestions for consideration for the 2013 Equine Prohibited Substances List. The move has come about following substantial feedback from veterinarians, athletes and horse owners requesting that substances are removed or added to the List, switched from the Controlled Medication Substances section to the Banned Substances section of the List, or vice versa.

Nov 9, 2011Preliminary findings from the post mortem on Hickstead, Eric Lamaze’s 2008 Olympic gold medal horse that died during the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping qualifier at Verona (ITA) on 6 November, have confirmed an aortic rupture, resulting in heart failure.
Further tests are to be conducted to establish the cause of the rupture, but these tests will take a number of weeks to complete and may prove inconclusive.

Nov 3, 2011FEI President HRH Princess Haya celebrated the 250th anniversary of the first veterinary school in Lyons (FRA) and the birth of the modern veterinary profession in her opening address at the 2011 World Equine Veterinary Association (WEVA) Conference in India yesterday (2 November).
The FEI President was addressing 600 delegates, including key members of the world’s equine industry, breeders and leading equine veterinarians, at the conference in the historic city of Hyderabad.

Aug 15, 2011The FEI and the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) will jointly host a conference in Guadalajara (MEX) on 24 October focusing on modernising international movement of horses in South America.
The conference will also allow participants to attend the 16th Pan American Games, which are taking place in Guadalajara on 14 - 30 October.
With the mandate to improve animal health and welfare worldwide, the OIE is recognised as the reference standard-setting international organisation by the World Trade Organisation.
