Equestrian sport has been on the Olympic programme ever since 1912 with the disciplines Jumping, Dressage and Eventing. Para-Equestrian Dressage has been on the Paralympic Programme since 1996. The FEI World Equestrian Games, created in 1990 are held every four years and are by far the largest equestrian event. In 2014, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy will be host to 8 World Championships - more information to be published soon.
The Summer Youth Olympic Games have been held for the first time from 14-26 August 2010 in Singapore, with Jumping on the programme. The next edition will take place from 16 - 28 August 2014 in Nanjing (CHN) - for more information, click here.
A number of other multi sport Games take place around the world, which include equestrian disciplines on the programme.They are:
- Pan American Games, next edition will take place in 2011 in Guadalajara (MEX) from 14 to 30 October
- Central American and Carribbean Games, next edition will take place in 2014 in Veracruz (MEX)
- South American Games, next edition will take place in 2014 in Santiago (CHI) from 25 October to 8 November
- Bolivarian Games, next edition will take place in 2013 in Trujillo (PER)
- Asian Games, next edition will take place in 2014 in Incheon (South Korea)
- East Asian Games, next edition will take place in 2013 in Tianjin (CHN)
- South East Asian Games, next edition will take place in 2011 in Jakarta (INA) from 14-21 November
- Mediterranean Games, next edition will take place in 2013 in Mersin (TUR)
